On February 24 and March 3, a notable turnover ceremony took place at the City Hall grounds, marking a pivotal moment for farmers in Zamboanga City. During this event, the city government distributed two rice combined harvesters, 28 walk-behind transplanters, and 48 power tillers to various farmer groups. This significant distribution underscores the city’s commitment to modernizing agricultural practices and enhancing rice production in the region.
The two rice combined harvesters, valued at an impressive P5.2 million, were awarded specifically to the Pasomaria Irrigators Association and the Siguinan Companio Bunguiao Irrigators Association. By providing such advanced machinery, the city government aims to increase the efficiency of rice harvesting, thereby ensuring that farmers can maximize their yields and reduce the time spent on labor-intensive tasks. Each district received eight units, with half designated for high-value crops and the other half for the corn program.
