COURTESY: CIO

Man, you won't believe what went down last Friday. **JOINT OPS SEIZES SMUGGLED CIGARETTES** worth ₱47,440 during a surprise saturation drive at Carmen and Cogon Markets.
The Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO) swooped in hard on March 27, 2026. They cleaned house fast and left smugglers scrambling.
Operation Thunder Hits the Markets

Led by PLTCOL. Gaudencio A. Taboclaon and supervised by Police City Director PCOL. Dexter G. Paje, the team rolled deep. Moreover, the joint operation pulled together all local police stations, the City Intelligence Unit (CIU), the City Mobile Force Company (CMFC), Task Force Oro, and the CDO Regulatory Compliance Board (RCB).
Consequently, they struck both markets simultaneously, catching everyone off guard. Therefore, the smugglers never saw it coming as officers moved quickly through the stalls.
Why This Raid Matters Big Time

Furthermore, these kinds of bold moves keep illegal goods off the streets. Thus, local businesses play fair while buyers stay safe from shady products.
Additionally, the success shows strong teamwork pays off. So next time you hit the market, remember the cops are watching and acting fast to protect the city.

CAMP ALAGAR, Cagayan de Oro City – Police Regional Office 10 (PRO10), under the leadership of Regional Director PBGEN JAYSEN C. DE GUZMAN, continues to intensify its enforcement operations in line with the ongoing Commission on Elections (COMELEC) gun ban, which remains in effect until June 11, 2025.
Despite the conclusion of the electoral period, PRO10 remains relentless in its efforts to curb the proliferation of loose firearms and maintain public safety across Northern Mindanao. Based on the latest data from the Election Monitoring System (EMS), a total of 103 individuals have been apprehended and 97 firearms have been confiscated in connection with gun ban violations and other law enforcement operations.
The confiscated items include 84 small arms, 3 light weapons, 10 replicas or improvised firearms, 2 explosives, and 773 rounds of ammunition. These were seized through a combination of police responses, checkpoint operations, anti-illegal drug campaigns, and intensified law enforcement efforts across the region.
PBGEN DE GUZMAN emphasized that operations will continue with the same level of vigilance in the coming weeks.
“The election process may have ended, but the COMELEC gun ban is still in effect until June 11, 2025. We will not slow down our efforts in ensuring that illegal possession and use of firearms are addressed decisively,” he said.
He added that PRO10 will sustain heightened alert levels and proactive checkpoint activities to secure communities and deter armed threats.
PRO10 assures the public of its unwavering commitment to uphold the law and maintain peace and order as the region transitions beyond the election season.
