COURTESY: ASENSO MISOCC

Hey there, sports fans and proud Misamisnons! Big news from our beloved Oroquieta City, Misamis Occidental—our provincial government recently rolled out the red carpet for our local heroes, the student-athletes who shone brightly at the Northern Mindanao Regional Athletic Association (NMRAA) Meet. The excitement was palpable on June 14 when these young champs were awarded cash incentives for their outstanding performances.
Picture this: Gold medalists strutted off with P50,000 per medal, while silver medalists pocketed P20,000, and bronze medalists took home P10,000. But wait, there's more! Every athlete, regardless of their medal count, received a cool P3,000. And let's not forget the coaches and trainers who were also recognized with special cash incentives. It's a full-on fiesta for athletic triumph!

The man of the hour, Governor Henry S. Oaminal, led the distribution of the cash goodies, showering praises on the One Asenso MisOcc Athletes. He made it clear that the provincial government is all in when it comes to celebrating our athletes' achievements. “Ang inyong performance sa miaging regional meet competition naghatag ug dugang pasidungog sa atoang probinsya,” he said proudly. Translation? "Your performance at the recent regional meet brought more honor to our province."
Governor Oaminal didn't stop there. He made an exciting announcement that had everyone buzzing—each gold medalist at the upcoming Palarong Pambansa in Cebu City this July will receive a whopping P50,000 cash reward. Talk about motivation to bring home the gold!

MisOcc Schools Division Superintendent Reynaldo Manuel was all smiles and gratitude as he thanked the provincial government for its unwavering support. He emphasized how this backing fuels the sports programs and various activities of DepEd. “Kami tanan sa DepEd Misocc, DepEd Oroquieta, DepEd Ozamiz, DepEd Tangub, Gov. dako gyud kaayo among pasalamat sa imong suporta nga gihatag namo sa sports,” he shared.

It's a heartwarming sight to see the provincial government and DepEd working hand in hand to inspire our youth. This partnership is not just about medals and trophies; it's about nurturing dreams and building a brighter future for Misamis Occidental.

Amid the cheers and applause, there were personal stories that tugged at the heartstrings. Benerando O. Basan expressed his heartfelt thanks for the significant support, which included P150,000 in cash incentives, free education up to college, and even a new home provided by the Governor. “Nalipay ko, daghan kaayong salamat sa pagsuporta niya ka namo,” he said, beaming with gratitude.

Then there's James Gabriel Cagang, a para-games swimming athlete from Barangay Tawi-Tawi, Aloran. His joy was infectious as he shared how the cash incentive would help renovate their home. “Malipayon kaayo kay nakadawat ko para ipausab nako sa among balay,” he said, his voice full of hope and thanks.

Let's not forget the impressive stats from the NMRAA 2024 Meet in Camiguin. Our province bagged the 3rd overall champion title in the elementary level category and secured fifth place in the overall medal tally with 52 gold, 56 silver, and 77 bronze medals. That's a lot of bling for Misamis Occidental!

This initiative by the Asenso Administration is more than just a pat on the back; it's a testament to their dedication to fostering talent, encouraging sportsmanship, and supporting the youth of Misamis Occidental. The future looks bright, and our young athletes are ready to shine even brighter.

In the end, it's all about community, support, and the relentless pursuit of excellence. So here's to the champions, the dreamers, and the believers—Misamis Occidental is cheering you on every step of the way!
