Water Wednesday hit different this time! Farmers in Kauswagan, Lagonglong, Misamis Oriental now enjoy fresh hope thanks to the **𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗪𝗲𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 - 𝗟𝗮𝗴𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗿-𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗜𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 (𝗦𝗣𝗜𝗣)**. This clever setup brings sustainable water solutions straight to the fields. It slashes costs, boosts productivity, and strengthens livelihoods while pushing small-scale, high-value crops like papaya to pump up income opportunities.

Moreover, the project flips the script on traditional farming struggles. Sunlight now powers the pumps instead of expensive fuel, so growers save money every single day. As a result, they plant more confidently and harvest richer yields.

NIA-X Leads the Green Charge

NIA-X, under the leadership of Regional Manager Engr. Benitez K. Derogongan, continues to drive innovation for a greener and more resilient future. They empower communities through clean and reliable irrigation that actually lasts.

Furthermore, this bold move proves solar tech works wonders in real farms. Farmers smile wider because their pockets stay fuller and their crops thrive better. Consequently, Lagonglong stands taller as a model for sustainable agriculture across Misamis Oriental.

The future looks bright—and fully powered by the sun.

Strengthening Resilience: The NIA-X Personnel Preps for Simultaneous Earthquake Drill

In an era marked by increasing environmental unpredictability, preparedness becomes paramount. The National Irrigation Administration - Regional Office X (NIA-X) has taken significant strides to ensure the safety of its employees and clientele through a comprehensive Earthquake Drill Orientation. This initiative, conducted in collaboration with the Office of Civil Defense (OCD), reflects the agency's commitment to disaster risk reduction as mandated by the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act of 2010.

Understanding Earthquake Preparedness

On June 2, 2025, NIA-X personnel engaged in an enlightening session led by esteemed resource speakers Ed Cyross P. Cagaanan and Jade V. Pondang. Both experts provided invaluable insights into the nature of earthquakes, which are triggered by sudden seismic movements, and discussed their potentially devastating secondary effects. By deepening their understanding, personnel can better appreciate the urgency of implementing effective response strategies.

Moreover, the orientation underscored the significance of the upcoming Simultaneous Earthquake Drill scheduled for June 19. This nationwide exercise will involve various national agencies, reinforcing the message that preparedness is a collective responsibility. It is crucial that every individual knows their role during an emergency, as this knowledge can significantly mitigate risks and save lives.

A Commitment to Safety and Compliance

The proactive approach taken by NIA-X aligns with Republic Act 10121, which aims to fortify disaster risk management strategies across the Philippines. By engaging in such drills, NIA-X not only complies with legal requirements but also fosters a culture of safety and resilience within its workforce.

Transitioning from theoretical knowledge to practical application, the upcoming drill will test the agency's readiness and response capabilities. As the date approaches, personnel are encouraged to internalize the procedures learned during the orientation. Ultimately, ensuring proper execution of these procedures during the drill will enhance the agency's overall disaster preparedness and, by extension, safeguard the well-being of its employees and the community at large.
