Celebrating the Bright Futures of Our 5 Kagay-anon Scholars!

COURTESY: Rufus B. Rodriguez  - Representative of 2nd District Cagayan de Oro City. Lawyer. Father. Kagay-anon. Author of Law Books. Lover of Music and History

Hey there, amazing readers! We've got some fantastic news to share, and it's all about dreams coming true and futures getting brighter. We're talking about the incredible achievements of five Kagay-anon scholars who have made it through the rigorous selection process of the Toyota Motor Philippines Foundation (TMPF) and the generous support of Cong. Rufus Rodriguez. So, buckle up as we dive into the inspiring journey of these young stars!

First up, let's get to know the shining stars of this story. After passing the admissions examination, interview stage, and thorough deliberation from TMPF officials, we proudly present to you:

1. **Dimaano, George Abraham**
2. **Villastique, Romer**
3. **Narquita, Paulien**
4. **Lansican, Jayrich Ace**
5. **Reynes, Kelly**

These scholars have showcased not just their intelligence but also their determination and hard work. They all come from indigent families, a key eligibility requirement for TMPF scholarships. Toyota and the Congressional Office staff confirmed this through a series of home visits, ensuring that these deserving individuals receive the support they need.

So, what's next for our brilliant scholars? Well, they're about to embark on an 18-month journey in the **Toyota General Job Automotive Servicing Course** at the Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) - School of Technology in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. This isn't just any courseโ€”it's an opportunity to gain top-notch skills and knowledge in the automotive industry.

And that's not all! Each scholar will benefit from:

1. Free tuition and miscellaneous fees
2. Free TESDA national assessment fees for NC I & NC II (limited to the first take only)
3. Free graduation fee
4. Free dormitory accommodation and basic meals
5. Free 2 sets of uniform (Pants & Shirt), 1 safety shoes, and 1 cap
6. Free airfare for various trips: opening of classes, Christmas break, OJT in Toyota dealerships (if within Visayas & Mindanao), and participation in the graduation ceremony

Let's take a moment to appreciate the incredible generosity that makes this all possible. The Toyota Motor Philippines Foundation (TMPF) is investing more than P300,000 per scholar. This significant amount will cover all the educational and living expenses, ensuring the scholars can focus entirely on their studies.

Meanwhile, Cong. Rufus Rodriguez is stepping in to cover the complete medical exam expenses for all the scholars. This kind of support is crucial, as it lifts a significant financial burden off the scholars and their families, allowing them to pursue their dreams without worry.

As we wrap up this celebratory post, let's extend our heartfelt congratulations to George, Romer, Paulien, Jayrich Ace, and Kelly. Youโ€™ve proven that hard work and determination can indeed make dreams come true. We wish you all the best in your journey ahead and can't wait to see the incredible things you'll achieve.

So, here's to new beginnings, endless possibilities, and the bright futures of our Kagay-anon scholars. Keep shining, keep dreaming, and keep inspiring us all!

Stay tuned for more updates on their journey and other inspiring stories. Until next time, keep chasing those dreams!

Tracing the Path of Time: The Historical Trail of Cagayan de Oro City

SOURCE: PIA 10

As the dawn of history unfolds, the regional office of the Department of Tourism (DOT) and the Office of Cagayan de Oro City 2nd District Rep. Rufus B. Rodriguez have recently launched a historical trail project. The initiative aims at attracting not only residents but also visitors to the city's historical sites.

Rodriguez, a fervent advocate of history preservation, formed a congressional historical committee. The committeeโ€™s mission was to explore different historical sites in Cagayan de Oro City, Misamis Oriental, and Camiguin.

The committeeโ€™s thorough research culminated in the publication of a book titled "Historical Trail" in August 2023. This comprehensive guide became the blueprint for the DOT Region 10 to formulate an immersive historical trail walkthrough tourism package for visitors.

Starting in Cagayan de Oro City, the team ventured to 16 historical sites, each holding significant historical value and telling a unique story of the city's past.

Each historical site visited by the team offered a piece of the rich tapestry that forms Cagayan de Oro City's history. From the majestic St. Augustine Metropolitan Cathedral & Convent to the intriguing Macahambus Cave and Hill, each location brought participants closer to the city's historic lineage.

Participants were briefed on each site's historical significance, allowing them to gain a deeper understanding of the role these sites played in the cityโ€™s past.

The historical trail walkthrough presents a unique challenge in its promotion. It deviates from the traditional tour circuits often seen in the region.

However, DOT Regional Director Marie Elaine Unchuan reassures the public that they are designing plans and programs to make the tour not just informative but also enjoyable.

Despite the tourโ€™s resemblance to a history class, the first-time attendees found the almost nine-hour trail around the historical sites of Cagayan de Oro City a delightful experience. DOT-10 will customize the historical trail walkthrough tour depending on the profile of the tourists availing of the tour package.

While still in its early stages, DOT-10 aspires to make the historical trail walkthrough tour one of their most popular tours. The aim is not just to increase tourism arrivals but to enable tourists to appreciate the rich culture and history of Cagayan de Oro City.

Rodriguez envisions expanding the historical trail book beyond Cagayan de Oro City, Misamis Oriental, and Camiguin to other provinces of the region. The expansion will ensure the inclusion of more historical places, turning the book into a comprehensive guide to the region's history.

With the launch of the historical trail walk-through, Rodriguez is confident that more regular historical trail walkthroughs will be conducted by the DOT. These walkthroughs will help both the Kagay-anons and other tourists better appreciate the city's historical evolution.

The team plans to launch the Misamis Oriental and Camiguin leg of the historical trail walk-through tour. This expansion will allow tourists visiting these provinces to also appreciate the historical sites found in these areas.

The historical trail project is not just a journey through time, but a commitment to the preservation and appreciation of Cagayan de Oro City's rich history. As the trail expands, it continues to weave the intricate tapestry of the cityโ€™s past, providing an enriching experience to both residents and visitors alike.

Embark on a journey through time with the historical trail of Cagayan de Oro City. Discover the city's rich history, explore significant sites and learn about the initiatives to preserve and promote these cultural treasures. Join us as we trace the path of time in Cagayan de Oro City.
