Cagayan de Oro City is buzzing with excitement, and for a good reason! Just three months after the City Council greenlit its largest project in the uptown area, a groundbreaking venture is set to transform the city into a beacon of progress not only for Mindanao but for the entire Philippines. The National Development Company (NDC) and the Investment & Capital Corporation of the Philippines (ICCP) have joined forces to bring a Silicon Valley-style development to life, promising a disruptive game changer for the region.

At a modest ceremony held at a local hotel, local officials, including Mayor Rolando Uy, witnessed the signing of a Letter of Intent. This collaboration aims to erect a five-tower luxury condominium, a sprawling 31-hectare mixed-use area, and a World Trade Center within an expanded Pueblo de Oro Township. This ambitious project signals a new era of growth and development for Cagayan de Oro.

The partnership between NDC and ICCP isn't their first rodeo. They've successfully collaborated on the World Trade Center Metro Manila, with NDC holding a significant stake. The new World Trade Center in Cagayan de Oro will be strategically located at the crossroads of the Laguindingan-Pueblo de Oro Diversion Road. Dubbed Southridge, this development aims to emulate the vibrancy of California's Silicon Valley.

NDC General Manager Usec. Antonilo DC. Mauricio expressed his excitement about the project, highlighting the challenges and triumphs of government-private partnerships. He emphasized that NDC's involvement de-risks investments, providing a strong signal of government support. This move is a testament to Cagayan de Oro's readiness to level up and become a leading city in the Philippines.

ICCP Group Chairman & CEO Guillermo D. Luchangco sees Cagayan de Oro as the next metropolitan area of the Philippines. The planned World Trade Center will support this vision by attracting international exhibitions and promoting trade. With CallisonRTKL's master plan already completed, this development is expected to transform Cagayan de Oro into a world-class urban center.

The city's growth is evident in its burgeoning Pueblo de Oro Township, which has become a self-sufficient 400-hectare hub. With a mix of residential communities, educational institutions, and business establishments, the township exemplifies Cagayan de Oro's potential as a central business district, leisure, and sports hub.

Cagayan de Oro's journey to becoming the Philippines' fourth metropolitan area is well underway. The city's strategic location, coupled with its role as a gateway and logistics hub for Northern Mindanao, positions it as a prime choice for investments. The city's exceptional rankings in various competitiveness indices further attest to its dynamism and potential.

As Cagayan de Oro continues to attract tourists and investors alike, the future looks promising. With the support of the government and private sector, the city is poised to become a beacon of progress and innovation. This transformative journey is not just about building structures; it's about building a legacy that will benefit generations to come.
