SOURCE: PIA CDO

The Department of Science and Technology-Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) is paving the path for the future leaders of the science and technology sector. With the launch of the 2024 Junior Level Science Scholarships, the institute is inviting eligible second-year college students to take advantage of this incredible opportunity. As we delve deeper into the details of this scholarship, we will uncover its potential to cultivate the next generation of innovators.

Students who are currently enrolled in DOST-SEI priority science and technology courses at selected universities and have maintained a general weighted average of at least 83 percent, free of any conditional marks and failing grades, are invited to apply for this scholarship. As James Dagala, DOST-10 project technical assistant, stated, these students are the ideal candidates for this scholarship.

While academic performance is a key factor, the selection process also considers other important aspects. Applicants must be natural-born Filipino citizens, exhibit good moral character, and be in good health. Even those who have previously applied for this scholarship but weren't successful are encouraged to apply once again.

The application period kicks off on March 4 and continues until May 31. The qualifying exam is slated for July 28. The application form, Form C-I, can be accessed on the official website, jlss.science-scholarships.ph.

Applicants are to submit a collection of documents along with their application form. These documents include official transcripts of records (TOR), a recent passport-size photo, a birth certificate, proof of parents' income, a notarized affidavit of guardianship, and a marriage certificate if applicable.

Dagala encourages potential applicants to prepare the required documents ahead of time. Once the registration form is open, candidates can register directly and upload the necessary documents. After submission, applicants will receive their test permit in July 2024.

Upon receiving the test permit, candidates will proceed to take the exam. Those who pass will be required to upload certification confirming their status as regular third-year college students. The list of official qualifiers will be announced in October 2024.

The scholarship will come into effect from the first semester of AY 2024-2025. The program aims to foster excellence and innovation within the academic community, nurturing the development of individuals in the field of science and technology.

James Dagala has been instrumental in promoting the Junior Level Science Scholarship. During the Lambo Dyes radio program on March 15, he urged incoming third-year college students to avail themselves of the scholarship.

The 2024 Junior Level Science Scholarships by DOST-SEI mark a significant stride toward enhancing science and technology education in the Philippines. By providing ample support to deserving students, the institute is shaping the future of the country. For more information and updates, applicants are encouraged to visit the official website and adhere to the outlined application guidelines at www.dost.gov.ph.

This scholarship is not just about financial aid; it represents a commitment to nurturing a generation of scientific thinkers and innovators. It is an investment in the future of science and technology in the Philippines, a testament to the belief in the power of young minds to change the world.
