The Big Deal: An Extra P195 Million for Cugman Bridge as Part of Eastern Interior Bypass Road

COURTESY: Cong. Rufus Rodriguez

Hold onto your hats, folks! Weโ€™ve got some exciting news straight from the heart of the city. Recently, Cong. Rufus Rodriguez, along with the top brass from the DPWH Regional Office 10, kicked off the groundbreaking ceremony for the Cugman Bridge III section. This isn't just any bridge; we're talking about a whopping P195 million investment for the ongoing Eastern Interior Bypass Road project.

For those of you not in the know, this P195M project covers the construction of a bridge thatโ€™s a jaw-dropping 290 meters long. Yes, you read that right! This bridge is part of a larger plan to alleviate traffic congestion in the city. Imagine driving past the scenic hills of Barangays Cugman and Tablon, with the Nestle Philippines factory in the backdrop, and eventually connecting to Sayre Highway in Barangay Puerto. Sounds like a dream, right? But itโ€™s a dream thatโ€™s becoming a reality.

So, whatโ€™s the big deal about this bridge? For starters, itโ€™s part of the grand plan for the Eastern Interior Bypass Road, which starts at Galaxy Road in Barangay Gusa. This road is set to become the ultimate alternative route, decongesting the main highway and making our lives way easier. Imagine zipping through the city without the dread of bumper-to-bumper traffic on the Butuan, CdeO, and Iligan Road (BCIR). Sounds heavenly, doesnโ€™t it?

Since FY 2017, Cong. Rufus has been on a mission. Heโ€™s already secured more than P695 million for the Cugman Bridge structure alone. But wait, thereโ€™s more! Heโ€™s also bagged over P3 billion from the national budget for the construction of both the road and bridge sections of the Eastern Interior Bypass Road. Talk about dedication!

The groundbreaking ceremony wasnโ€™t just a boring formality. It was a gathering of minds and hearts committed to the project. The DPWH 10 Construction Division Chief Engineer Jesse Peliรฑo was there, along with other DPWH 10 engineers and staff. Local officials from Brgy. Cugman, including Kag. Kishan Aldeguer, Kag. Alfredo Mate, Kag. Myra Tilacas, Kag. Boyet Romo, SK Chairman Kent John Aldeguer, and other SK Kagawads, also graced the event.

Cong. Rufus, in his message, didnโ€™t just talk the talk. He walked the walk by reiterating his commitment to ensuring the completion of the project. Heโ€™s been hustling during budget deliberations to secure the necessary funds. And letโ€™s be real, securing funds for such a massive project is no small feat.

Now that the groundbreaking ceremony is done and dusted, what lies ahead? For FY 2024, the focus will be on constructing the bridge and making sure it spans 290 meters in total. This isnโ€™t just a bridge; itโ€™s a lifeline that will significantly reduce travel times for those zipping through the city.

The Eastern Interior Bypass Road is not just a road; itโ€™s a symbol of progress. It aims to decongest the main highways and make travel smoother for everyone. Imagine not having to deal with the usual traffic snarls. Your daily commute could become a breeze, and the scenic route might just be the cherry on top.

Letโ€™s not forget the community benefits. This project isnโ€™t just about building infrastructure; itโ€™s about building a better future for everyone. The reduced travel times will mean less stress for commuters and more time for things that matterโ€”like family and leisure. Plus, the project will likely create jobs and boost the local economy. Itโ€™s a win-win situation for all.

In conclusion, the additional P195 million for the Cugman Bridge as part of the Eastern Interior Bypass Road is a game-changer. Itโ€™s not just about concrete and steel; itโ€™s about vision, commitment, and progress. So, hereโ€™s to smoother roads and brighter futures. Cheers!
