Power Up: What’s Happening Now at the Mirafuentes Substation!

COURTESY: Northern Davao Electric Cooperative, Inc.

Hey there, power enthusiasts! Have you heard about the exciting developments happening over at the Mirafuentes Substation in Tagum City? If not, buckle up because we’re diving into the nitty-gritty of the 30MVA Power Transformer tests that are taking the region by storm. Yep, that’s right! The buzz is all about ensuring that our power supply remains reliable and efficient, and this latest testing activity is a huge step in that direction.
So, what’s going on? Well, as part of the preparatory activities for commissioning and energization, a crucial test is underway: SF₆ gas purity testing on the Power Circuit Breaker (PCB). You might be wondering why this matters. Simply put, this testing is essential for ensuring that everything operates safely and efficiently once the transformer is up and running. It’s a joint effort by the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), Alternative Power Solutions, Inc. (APSI), and NORDECO, which means you can trust that the pros are on the job. Together, they’re making sure our energy future is bright!

A Commitment to Quality Power

Now, let’s talk about the big picture here. The uprating of the 20MVA Mirafuentes substation to a whopping 40MVA is not just a number; it reflects NORDECO’s unwavering commitment to enhancing power quality and reliability for its member-consumer-owners. This upgrade is a game-changer! With increased capacity, we can expect fewer outages and better service—something we all appreciate as we rely on electricity for just about everything in our daily lives.

Furthermore, this is not just about numbers and tests; it’s about community. People in Tagum City and surrounding areas can look forward to a more dependable power supply. This means less interruption during your Netflix binge or while you’re cooking up a storm in the kitchen. Plus, with the collaborative efforts of industry leaders, you know that safety and reliability are top priorities. So, keep your eyes peeled for more updates as this project unfolds. Exciting times ahead, folks!
