A Milestone Meeting

On March 23, 2026, a remarkable event unfolded in Misamis Oriental as Governor Juliette Uy welcomed key personnel from SPI Power Inc., previously known as Steag State Power Inc. This visit was spearheaded by Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Plant Manager Dr. Carsten Evers. Their primary purpose? To present a significant remittance of ₱10 million to the Provincial Government, representing contributions accrued from 2019 to 2025. This initiative aligns with the Energy Regulation 1-94 program, which mandates power-generating facilities to provide financial benefits to their host communities. Specifically, this program requires a contribution of P0.01 per kilowatt-hour from electricity sales, ultimately benefiting the local populace.

The funds, overseen by the Department of Energy, will be allocated to essential projects aimed at electrification, livelihood enhancement, reforestation, watershed management, and health/environmental initiatives. With these resources, the Provincial Government can implement various programs that directly address the needs of the community. The collaboration between SPI Power Inc. and the local government signifies a strong commitment to fostering sustainable development, setting a precedent for future partnerships.

Building a Brighter Future

During the meeting, Dr. Evers emphasized the importance of collaboration and shared vision. He expressed his excitement about the numerous projects they plan to undertake in conjunction with the Provincial Government, highlighting their commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). "We have comprehensive programs based on several pillars, and we will continue to develop working together, especially with Governor Juliette Uy, whom I’ve known for 20 years," he noted. This longstanding relationship between Dr. Evers and Governor Uy fosters a constructive collaboration that promises to yield tangible results for the community.

The SPI Power Incorporated facility, which operates a 232 MW coal-fired power plant located in Villanueva, has been recognized as a significant contributor to the DOE ER 1-94 program. This partnership is a testament to Governor Uy’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the relationship between the government and the private sector. By engaging with companies like SPI Power Inc., she is paving the way for initiatives that will ultimately benefit the people of Misamis Oriental. This collaboration not only supports local development but also underscores the importance of sustainable practices in the energy sector. Together, they are indeed turning a new chapter in community empowerment and progress.

Uptown Revolution: CDO's Epic New Government Complex is Coming to Steal the Show!

COURTESY: CIO

Hey, CDO fam! Big changes are rolling into Uptown, and they're dressed in concrete, glass, and serious green vibes. The Future CDO Government Complex to Rise in Uptown is officially the glow-up we've all been waiting for.
Why Uptown Deserves This Glow-Up

Picture this: the corner of SM Bypass Road and Zayas–Canitoan Road transforms into a massive 22.9-hectare civic playground. Officials finally said enough to the cramped, 80-year-old City Hall downtown. They picked Uptown for a reason—better traffic flow, more space to breathe, and room to actually grow.
The new spot promises to decongest everything. No more sardine-can vibes during peak hours. Instead, you'll get smoother service delivery and happier government workers who aren't elbow-to-elbow. Progress feels good, right?
What’s Actually Getting Built (Spoiler: It’s Awesome)

This isn’t just another boring government building. Architects went all-in with an 8-storey executive tower for the mayor and departments, plus a sleek 4-storey legislative hall for the council. Throw in huge parking lots so you never circle forever, commercial zones for coffee runs and quick bites, and even a legit sports facility.
Sustainability steals the spotlight too—think green roofs, energy-smart designs, and open spaces that actually invite people in. The whole complex screams “modern CDO” while keeping our environment in check. Construction buzz is already building, and honestly, Uptown is about to level up hard.

CDO, get ready. The Future CDO Government Complex to Rise in Uptown isn’t just a project—it’s our city saying we’re ready for the next chapter. Watch this space!

U.S. Troops in CDO? Chill, It's Just Training Vibes!

COURTESY: PIA 10

Cagayan de Oro City recently saw some buzz when U.S. military personnel showed up at Lumbia Air Base. Residents started whispering about connections to Middle East Global Conflicts involving Iran, Israel, and the United States. Col. Anselmo A. Ty quickly stepped in to clear the air. He explained everything calmly on March 16.

No Drama, Just Disaster-Ready Drills

The U.S. presence stays temporary and focuses purely on training. Lumbia Air Base operates under the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA). This pact pushes infrastructure upgrades that boost logistics and disaster response. Ty emphasized these facilities help deliver humanitarian assistance and strengthen joint exercises for disaster preparedness.

The troops participate in Freedom Banner and Balikatan Exercises alongside the Armed Forces of the Philippines and U.S. Marine Corps. These activities run until the end of March 2026. Everyone coordinates closely with local government and partner agencies, so nothing happens without proper notice.

Why This Actually Helps Kagay-anons

This cooperation sharpens skills for Philippine Air Force members and even City Disaster Response teams. Residents gain stronger protection against typhoons and other calamities through better training. Ty reassured everyone—no cause for alarm exists. The focus remains on readiness, not regional tensions. Northern Mindanao stays peaceful while building real capability together.

Big Bite 2026 Just Dropped – And My Stomach Already Signed Up!

COURTESY: Ayala Malls Centrio

#BigBite2026 is officially open—bringing together crowd favorites, fresh finds, and a full-on food crawl experience!
I stepped into Ayala Malls Centrio yesterday and boom—pure chaos in the best way. Full tables everywhere, busy stalls pumping out smoke and smells, and people straight-up racing between booths like it’s the food Olympics. The energy hits different. You smell grilled everything before you even see the signs.
Why This Food Fest Slaps Harder Than Usual

Crowd favorites hold strong—think juicy lechon, creamy halo-halo towers, and those cheesy nachos that ruin diets in seconds. But the real MVPs? The fresh finds hiding in the corners. Spicy seafood sisig reinvented with calamansi foam, ube pandesal stuffed with bacon, even durian spring rolls that somehow work. Vendors keep surprising you.
Meanwhile the full-on food crawl experience turns shopping into a delicious mission. Grab a map, plot your route, then abandon the plan because that next stall’s calling louder. Between bites, friends argue over who picked the better skewer. Good food fuels the vibes.
Catch Big Bite: The Northern Mindanao Food Festival from March 20 to 29, 2026!

Go hungry. Leave stuffed. Regret nothing. See you at Centrio—my next plate’s already reserved.

The Night Love Took Over Atrium

The So In Love concert wrapped up with a finale so stunning it literally stole our breath. Brian McKnight unleashed that legendary vocal range, hitting notes that made everyone freeze in pure awe. Honestly, the man didn’t just sing—he poured pure emotion into every line. Each song filled the Atrium at Limketkai Mall like warm honey, turning the whole space into this cozy bubble of love and connection. You could feel the theme wrapping around you. Nobody wanted it to end.
People swayed together, phones forgotten, just soaking in the magic. Brian connected with every soul there. One minute he’s smooth and sultry, the next he’s belting power that rattles your chest. The vibe stayed intimate the whole night, even with hundreds of us packed in. That’s real talent—making a mall atrium feel like your living room.
Why This Night Hit Different

Every lyric landed harder because of the setting. The So In Love theme wasn’t just marketing; you lived it. Couples held hands tighter. Strangers smiled at each other. Brian made love feel simple, massive, and right there in the room. The crowd sang along softly during the slow jams, then erupted when he went big. Transitions between songs flowed so naturally you barely noticed time passing.
After the last note faded, nobody rushed out. We just stood there, buzzing, replaying those final high notes in our heads. Limketkai’s Atrium became sacred for one night. Brian McKnight reminded us why his voice still rules R&B. If you missed it, start saving for the next one. Your heart deserves this kind of night.
