Founded on August 9, 1966 in Cagayan de Oro by Mordino R. Cua and Aquilino Pimentel Sr., MASS-SPECC started with simple cooperative lectures. Over time, it became a pioneering federation.

Better Testing, Better Farming

The Mobile Soil Laboratory was officially launched in the province on Monday, August 3, 2026, by the Provincial Government and Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Soils and Water Management. Through the Mobile Soil Laboratory, farmers can access high-quality soil analysis, helping them manage farms properly.

Equipped with advanced analytical instruments, laboratory facilities, office spaces, safety features, and essential resources worth 43 million pesos, the team brings testing closer to communities. Consequently, farmers and LGUs can make smarter decisions.

Taking Services Across Communities

From August 3 to October 2, the laboratory will serve LGUs across Misamis Oriental. Moreover, Northern Mindanao is the first region in the country to operate this innovative facility.

Officials, including Governor Uy and DA Regional Executive Director Jose Apollo Pacamalan, attended the launch. Ultimately, the program supports a more productive, stronger, and sustainable agriculture sector.

New Equipment, Better Healthcare

Great news for Misamis Oriental! Three Misamis Oriental Provincial Hospitals (MOPHs) recently received 82 hospital beds and eight wheelchairs, giving healthcare workers better tools to serve more patients. Moreover, MOPH Manticao, MOPH Magsaysay, and MOPH Claveria now have upgraded facilities that improve comfort and strengthen patient care.

The provincial government continues enhancing healthcare through valuable partnerships. Gov. Juliette Uy expressed gratitude to private organizations and government agencies whose donations included hospital beds, wheelchairs, nebulizers, an ultrasound machine, and a defibrillator.

A Healthier Future Ahead

Meanwhile, hospital officials welcomed the new equipment because it replaces aging units and meets rising patient demand. Consequently, hospitals can accommodate more patients while delivering faster, more reliable healthcare services.

Furthermore, the Misamis Oriental Provincial Health Office oversees distribution across eight provincial hospitals. As succeeding phases continue, more facilities will receive essential medical equipment, bringing quality healthcare closer to every resident.

Eyes on the Horizon: Macajalar Bay’s New Maritime Guardian Awakens

The Philippine Coast Guard just flipped the switch on something big. Through Coast Guard District Northern Mindanao, they inaugurated the Macajalar Bay Vessel Traffic Management System, and suddenly one of the region’s busiest waterways gained a powerful new set of eyes.  

This state-of-the-art VTMS actively tracks vessels in real time, sharpens maritime domain awareness, speeds up emergency response, and keeps traffic flowing safely and smoothly.  

Meanwhile, senior leaders including VADM Edgar L. Ybañez, PHIVIDEC’s Atty. Joseph Donato J. Bernedo, and fellow flag officers stood together to mark the moment. Their presence underscores a shared push for stronger safety, security, and economic growth across Northern Mindanao.
