On March 24, 2026, LANECO stepped up at Barangay Curvada, Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte for the big event. Moreover, this marks the municipality’s very first solar power development. Consequently, the project will pump out up to 4,384 MWh every year while delivering a solid 2.6 MW of clean renewable energy. Therefore, it boosts both local economic growth and environmental sustainability at the same time.

Additionally, everyone celebrated this green energy win inside LANECO’s franchise area.

The City Council approved several proposed resolutions and ordinances during its 31st regular session, including an amendment increasing motorela fare rates. Moreover, the session was presided over by Vice Mayor Jocelyn 'Bebot' Rodriguez on Monday, March 23, at the Session Hall of the Legislative Building. 

Barangay Boosts and Community Cheers

Furthermore, council members gave the green light to a bunch of resolutions that make barangay plans official. They declared the annual and supplemental budgets for 2026 operative for several barangays. Additionally, Resolution 2026-286 activates Barangay Lumbia's rule on the number of council seats, while others empower Indahag's fresh ideas like a monthly Job Assistance Day, a stronger Council for the Protection of Children, an Educational Assistance Program for underprivileged students, and measures promoting cooperative development. 

Meanwhile, Bugo gets its official festival jingle locked in, and SK budgets for Puntod, Pagalungan, Taglimao, and Barangay 15 roll forward for 2026. These moves keep neighborhoods thriving and kids supported. 

Housing Hopes and Fare Facts

Next, the council pushed forward with housing projects that matter to many families. Ordinance 2026-219 lets the mayor handle land subdivision for a resettlement program in Barangay Carmen. Similarly, they approved the subdivision development plan for Xavier Southwoods in Barangay Bayanga and authorized usufruct agreements plus master deeds under the 4PH housing program in Barangay Pagatpat. 

Finally, Ordinance 2026-224 amends the motorela fare ordinance to increase fare rates, helping drivers cope with rising costs while keeping rides accessible. Hey folks, imagine a region buzzing with fresh ideas and game-changing tech—that’s exactly what’s happening in Northern Mindanao right now. 

𝗥𝗥𝗗𝗜𝗖-𝗫 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗥𝗗𝗖-𝗫 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗗𝗜 𝗜𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀.

The Regional Research, Development, and Innovation Committee X (RRDIC-X) just nailed it by winning full support and endorsement from the Regional Development Council X (RDC-X) for major research, development, and innovation (RDI) initiatives. 

Moreover, things got even more exciting during the meeting. RRDIC-X pushed forward the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) application for KIST Park accreditation with the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA). At the same time, the committee endorsed Hon. Henry S. Oaminal, Provincial Governor of Misamis Occidental, as RDC-X’s rep to the Mindanao Sub-national Committee of the Presidential Filipinnovation Awards. This cool annual contest spotlights startups ready for early-stage commercialization and success.

Furthermore, Prof. Alizedney M. Ditucalan, Chancellor of Mindanao State University–Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) and RRDIC-X Co-Chairperson, led the charge with energy and vision.
