Zero Emissions, Full Speed: Northern Mindanao's Electric Taxi Revolution

COURTESY: LTFRB Region 10

Big news from Northern Mindanao! On October 28, 2026, NEMINTSCO launched its EV Taxi service at Angeles Compound, Igpit, Opol, Misamis Oriental. Green GSM EV Taxi powers the new fleet.

LTFRB Region 10 Regional Director Aljo Bendijo, J.D., attended the soft opening himself. His presence shows how seriously the region takes modern transport.

Director Bendijo said he felt proud, and honestly, who wouldn't? A local transport cooperative now runs electric taxis in Northern Mindanao.
Moreover, this step moves the region toward a more modern and sustainable public transportation system. It shows that local cooperatives can lead the change.

So, what makes EV taxis special? First, they run cleaner and quieter, and they feel more comfortable to ride in.

Furthermore, they can cut operating and maintenance costs. They also reduce fuel dependence and lower carbon emissions. As a result, drivers and cooperatives gain fresh economic opportunities.

Finally, this milestone supports the New Philippines vision of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. It also follows the guidance of DOTr Secretary Vince Dizon and the leadership of LTFRB.

Together, they push the country toward greener, more reliable public transportation. Northern Mindanao just took a big step forward!

Charging Ahead: Northern Mindanao's Road to Electric Taxis

A New Ride Is Coming

Change is rolling into Cagayan de Oro, and it's electric. On September 3, 2026, LTFRB Region 10 Regional Director Aljo Bendijo sat down with Hail Motors and CAFITADA to talk EV taxis.
Their goal? Bringing cleaner, greener rides to Northern Mindanao without leaving current operators behind.
Re-Fleeting, Not Replacing

Instead of scrapping what's already working, the plan focuses on re-fleeting. Local taxi operators and cooperatives can swap their current units for EVs while still serving their existing routes and passengers.
That means modernization happens gradually, and nobody gets left in the dust.
Powering the Shift

Of course, EVs need somewhere to charge. So, the group also discussed building charging stations and supporting infrastructure across the region.
This isn't just about taxis, either. It opens doors for local investors, new partnerships, and businesses ready to join the growing EV ecosystem.
Driving Toward Bagong Pilipinas
RD Bendijo stressed that any rollout must follow LTFRB policies and regulations. Meanwhile, this initiative supports the Bagong Pilipinas agenda under President Marcos Jr. and DOTr Secretary Giovanni Lopez.
Ultimately, it's a team effort — steering Northern Mindanao toward safer, more sustainable transportation.

Green Lights Ahead: GSM Taxi Rolls Into Northern Mindanao

A Friendly Visit With Big Plans
So here's the scoop: GSM Taxi recently paid a courtesy visit to LTFRB Region 10 Regional Director Aljo Bendijo, J.D. Why does this matter? Because the company is gearing up to launch its Green Taxi operations right here in Northern Mindanao, and this meeting was the first official step
Beyond the pleasantries, the conversation quickly turned practical. Both sides explored what electric taxis could mean for the region, from everyday commuters to the local economy.
Charging Ahead With Infrastructure

Naturally, EVs need power, so talks also touched on potential investments in EV charging stations. Additionally, they discussed the broader support infrastructure needed to keep electric taxis running smoothly.
These aren't small considerations either. As electric mobility expands, new business and economic opportunities are likely to follow, benefiting the region as a whole.

Compliance Still Comes First
RD Bendijo welcomed the shift toward cleaner transportation, but he was quick to emphasize compliance with LTFRB regulations. After all, sustainability and accountability go hand in hand.
He also pointed out that electric public transport strengthens more than mobility. It helps build the entire ecosystem needed for greener transportation to thrive.

Looking Toward a Greener Future

Ultimately, this courtesy visit shows LTFRB Region 10's ongoing engagement with transport stakeholders, supporting the Bagong Pilipinas agenda under President Marcos Jr. and DOTr Secretary Giovanni Lopez.
