A New Ride Is Coming
Change is rolling into Cagayan de Oro, and it's electric. On September 3, 2026, LTFRB Region 10 Regional Director Aljo Bendijo sat down with Hail Motors and CAFITADA to talk EV taxis.
Their goal? Bringing cleaner, greener rides to Northern Mindanao without leaving current operators behind.
Re-Fleeting, Not Replacing
Instead of scrapping what's already working, the plan focuses on re-fleeting. Local taxi operators and cooperatives can swap their current units for EVs while still serving their existing routes and passengers.
That means modernization happens gradually, and nobody gets left in the dust.
Powering the Shift
Of course, EVs need somewhere to charge. So, the group also discussed building charging stations and supporting infrastructure across the region.
This isn't just about taxis, either. It opens doors for local investors, new partnerships, and businesses ready to join the growing EV ecosystem.
Driving Toward Bagong Pilipinas
RD Bendijo stressed that any rollout must follow LTFRB policies and regulations. Meanwhile, this initiative supports the Bagong Pilipinas agenda under President Marcos Jr. and DOTr Secretary Giovanni Lopez.
Ultimately, it's a team effort — steering Northern Mindanao toward safer, more sustainable transportation.
