Governor Juliette Uy, Congressman Rufus Rodriguez, and Ms. Shiela Lumbatan, representing Mayor Klarex Uy, joined forces last week and dropped a game-changing ₱300 million commitment. They aim to transform the aging venue into a top-tier hub ready for national events like Palarong Pambansa.
Moreover, the provincial government kicks in ₱100 million for new tennis and pickleball courts plus an Olympic-size pool upgrade.
Future-Proofing the Region’s Sports Heart
Meanwhile, Cong. Rufus and Rep. Maxie Rodriguez pledge another ₱100 million to expand grandstands from 2,000 to 5,000 seats. City officials add ₱100 million for a fresh rubber track, football field rehab, and better drainage to beat flooding.
Additionally, plans for multi-storey buildings will roll out in phases. These moves will restore Pelaez Sports Complex’s glory and position Cagayan de Oro and Misamis Oriental as a powerhouse for sports, tourism, and big events.
