A Fresh Start: General Flushing at Cogon Public Market Underway

In the bustling heart of Cagayan de Oro, the Cogon Public Market is undergoing a remarkable transformation. The ongoing flushing operation, spearheaded by the City Economic Enterprises and Business Development Administration (CEEBDA), marks a significant step in the city’s commitment to cleanliness and public health. As vendors and shoppers navigate the vibrant aisles filled with fresh produce and local goods, this initiative aims to create a safer, more hygienic environment for all.
The thorough washing and hosing of market pathways, drainage systems, and common areas are not just routine maintenance; they are crucial measures to reduce contamination and enhance waste management. By tackling the potential health risks associated with unclean facilities, the CEEBDA ensures that both vendors and consumers can engage in commerce with peace of mind. Moreover, this effort highlights the city’s proactive approach to urban cleanliness, setting an example for other public spaces.
A Collaborative Effort Towards Cleanliness

As the flushing operation progresses, market vendors and the public are encouraged to cooperate and observe the necessary precautions. This collaboration is essential for the success of the initiative and underscores the importance of community involvement in maintaining public spaces. While the process may cause temporary disruptions, the long-term benefits far outweigh the inconveniences. Vendors, in particular, play a pivotal role in ensuring that their stalls remain clean and appealing, thereby fostering a healthier marketplace.
In conclusion, the general flushing at Cogon Public Market is a vital initiative that not only enhances sanitation but also promotes a sense of community responsibility. By participating in this effort, we can all contribute to a cleaner and safer environment, making our market experience more enjoyable. As the city continues to invest in public health and safety, let us embrace these changes and support one another in this shared mission for a better Cagayan de Oro.

The Ceremony and Its Promise

City leaders gathered with purpose and optimism as heavy machinery hummed in the morning light. Moreover, community members watched attentively while officials marked a milestone for local infrastructure. City Mayor Klarex Uy, Fr. Mars Tan, Xavier University President, Jose Soberano, CEO of Cebu Landmasters, and Jose Franco Soberano, Chief Operating Officer of Cebu Landmasters, led the Manresa Access Road Concrete Pouring Ceremony. The ceremony signaled the tangible start of a project many have long awaited.
Consequently, attendees felt a renewed sense of possibility because the 2-kilometer access road will link downtown and uptown. The event underscored collaboration between public and private sectors, and the atmosphere brimmed with shared responsibility. In short, stakeholders emphasized that this work aims to reduce congestion and enhance mobility for residents.

The Road, the Timeline, and Community Impact

The project involves a 2-kilometer public-private access road connecting the downtown and uptown areas. Therefore, planners expect more efficient traffic flow, particularly toward the uptown area where peak-hour backups frequently occur. Engineers outlined phased work, confirming that the access road is projected to be completed by the end of 2027, and crews will maintain steady progress.

Ultimately, the initiative aims to help ease traffic congestion, particularly toward the uptown area, and to improve daily commutes for everyone. Residents expressed hope because the new route is expected to benefit all Kagay-anons. As construction advances, local leaders pledge transparency and responsiveness so the community enjoys the road’s advantages as soon as possible.
