Bukidnon's Mighty Comeback Against the Rains

For safer communities this rainy season, DPWH Region X intensified the implementation of President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr.’s Oplan Kontra Baha (OKB) program in some parts of Northern Mindanao. Through the collaboration of the DPWH Bukidnon 2nd and 4th District Engineering Offices (DEO), crews work tirelessly on the restoration of the Old Impounding Basin in Taganibong Creek in Maramag, Bukidnon. They have already reached an impressive 72.30% completion, and locals feel the positive shift right away. 

Moreover, these teams tackle heavy silt and debris with determination. They clear pathways for water flow and strengthen defenses before the next big downpour hits. As a result, families in the area sleep easier knowing proactive steps protect their homes and farmlands from devastating floods. Transitioning smoothly from planning to action, engineers coordinate daily to maintain momentum and deliver real safety improvements.

Victories Flowing in Iligan and Cagayan de Oro

Meanwhile in Iligan City, the DPWH Iligan City DEO has exceeded their target where the progress of the dredging operation in Iligan River is already at 135%. Workers push hard and celebrate surpassing goals ahead of schedule. In Cagayan de Oro City, the DPWH Cagayan de Oro City 1st DEO collected 111 cubic meters of silt deposits from Sapang Bridge 1 in Barangay Bulua after intense clearing and siphoning operations. 

Meanwhile, the DPWH Cagayan de Oro City 2nd DEO continues excellent work on the Cugman River dredging project, achieving a strong 95% progress. Teams remove obstructions efficiently, which helps water drain faster and lowers flood risks for nearby residents. 

With the combined force of dedicated teams across the region, these operations transform risky waterways into reliable channels. Furthermore, the efforts create lasting benefits for residents who face heavy rains every year. Engineers actively remove dangerous buildup, which prevents overflow and keeps roads open during storms. 

Additionally, the Oplan Kontra Baha (OKB) program brings hope and visible change across selected areas in Northern Mindanao. Communities now witness faster water drainage and reduced flood risks thanks to these coordinated actions.
