Mambajao Welcomes Global Swim Heroes
Mambajao locals rolled out the welcome mat for 118 athletes at the Swimjunkie Challenge Camiguin 2026. They dove right in on May 10, turning the island into a buzzing sports tourism hotspot. Moreover, Mayor Yñigo Jesus Romualdo fired up the crowd during the May 9 briefing, praising their swimming grit and island love. Athletes from Singapore, Italy, the US, and beyond showed up strong, and everyone felt the electric vibe of cultural exchange.
The team pushed hard to highlight Camiguin's magic, from white sands to black sands. They also spotlighted soda springs, cold springs, and upcoming hot spring developments run by the local government.
Epic Race and Unforgettable Thrills
Racers tackled the tough open-water course between Agoho, Yumbing, and White Island while the Philippine Coast Guard kept things safe. Organizers boosted camaraderie and pushed Camiguin's “Isle Be There” hospitality brand. Champion Matthieu Mlv called it one of the Philippines' toughest swims yet totally amazing, with turtles making surprise appearances.
He urged swimmers to train smart for the currents. Romualdo stressed how these events spark tourism, local sports passion, and international bonds. What a ride—Mambajao nailed it again!
