The Philippine Veterans Investment Development Corporation (Phividec) Industrial Authority and the Philippine Army’s 4th Infantry Division (4ID) have recently joined forces in an historic agreement, signing a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on March 11 in the picturesque municipality of Tagaloan, Misamis Oriental. This agreement holds immense significance as it paves the way for retired military servicemen to secure the sprawling 3,000-hectare Phividec facility.
The MOA outlines a clear, accessible process for qualified retired military personnel to become members of the Citizen Armed Forces Geographical Unit Auxiliary (CAA), receive superior training from the esteemed 4ID, and join the elite security force stationed to protect the Phividec Industrial Estate.
Joseph Donato Bernedo, the proactive administrator and CEO of Phividec Industrial Authority, expressed his optimism about the agreement. He stated, "Through the CAA, our retired military men will have the opportunity to work and be employed even after their retirement. Our retired military men will have the opportunity to be part of the security force that will safeguard and protect PHIVIDEC Industrial Estate."
Bernedo emphasized the very essence of Phividec IA's creation, which is to ensure the welfare and well-being of veterans and retirees of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP). He further highlighted the institution's responsibility to seamlessly integrate these veterans into civilian life, offering them a chance to be employed and thrive post-retirement.
Bernedo was quick to underline the institution of the CAA as the embodiment of taking care of AFP retirees. He said, "These individuals have dedicated their lives to serving our nation, demonstrating unparalleled commitment, discipline, and a strong work ethic. As they transition to civilian life, it is our responsibility to ensure that they find meaningful roles that not only utilize their skills but also contribute to their successful integration into the broader workforce."
Maj. Gen. Jose Maria Cuerpo II, an esteemed figure in the military world, described the MOA as the heralding of a new chapter of unity and protection for Phividec. This pact positions Phividec as the beacon of industry in Misamis Oriental.
He emphasized that the CAA is poised to provide robust protection against potential threats, ensuring the unimpeded growth and services of Phividec in line with its mandate.
Although the initial CAA workforce will comprise 120 individuals, Bernedo is confident in the unit's capability. He highlighted the collaborative efforts with the Philippine National Police, the Philippine Coast Guard, and the security agencies of estate locators to secure the entire facility.
"In sharing resources, intelligence, and expertise, we strengthen our ability to face multifaceted challenges," Bernedo remarked.
Bernedo assured that if the need for additional deployment arises, the MOA will provide the flexibility to meet the evolving security requirements. This adaptability is a crucial aspect of the agreement, attesting to its comprehensive approach to security.
In addition to activating the CAA, Bernedo disclosed the institution's plans to implement complementary measures. These include the procurement of CCTV cameras and drones, further enhancing the overall security infrastructure of the Phividec estate.
The signing of the agreement by Phividec IA's Administrator and CEO, Joseph Donato Bernedo, and 4ID Commander, Maj. Gen. Jose Maria Cuerpo II, was certainly a momentous occasion. It marked a significant milestone in the history of Phividec Industrial Estate and the 4th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army.
With the signing of the MOA and the activation of the CAA, Phividec is poised to strengthen its position as a stronghold of industry in Misamis Oriental. This move promises a brighter, more secure future for the estate and all who rely on its services.
As this new chapter unfolds, the future of Phividec looks promising. The activation of the CAA signals the dawn of an era of enhanced security, prosperity, and growth for the estate. The partnership between Phividec and the 4ID is set to bring about a transformation, ensuring that the industrial estate continues to thrive as a beacon of industry in Misamis Oriental.
