A Celebration of Heart and Art: Northern Mindanao Art Groups Honor National Arts Month with 'Sining ug Kasingkasing' Exhibit

In the bustling region of Northern Mindanao, the month of February was filled with a unique kind of celebration. Two prominent visual arts groups, Artsada Kagay-an, Inc., and Ebony Visual Arts Iligan Association, converged to commemorate National Arts Month with a captivating exhibit named "Sining ug Kasingkasing" on February 15.



The exhibit found its home at the 2nd level, East Concourse, Limketkai Center, where the walls came alive with diverse artwork reflecting the rich and creative culture of Northern Mindanao.



Franklin Gumapon, the PIA-10 Regional Head, commended the organizers for the extraordinary level of the arts and encouraged all artists to continue pursuing their passion. According to him, arts and culture form a critical part of human survival, embodying human expression about self, life, and resilience in the face of life's ups and downs.


Lloyd Hinosolango, the president of Artsada Kagay-an, Inc., extended his heartfelt thanks to all those who helped mount the exhibit. This included the sponsors, guests, family members, and fellow artists who contributed their time and effort.



Lawyer Pol Geñoso, a representative of Carrasco and Geñoso Lawyers and Notary, urged everyone to "discover the heartbeat of local creativity through 'Sining ug Kasingkasing'". He emphasized the importance of immersing oneself in the soul-stirring world of local art.



Geñoso highlighted that February is a month of appreciation for the arts, a time when the community comes together to uplift and celebrate local artists and their incredible talent.



Michael E. Bacol, the NCCA-National Committee for Visual Arts regional representative, inspired artists both struggling and mid-career. He reminded them that there will always be people ready to help and uplift the local art scene.



Bacol emphasized the essential role of art in society, stating that an abundance of artists leads to a community filled with beauty and life. He encouraged artists to keep creating, as their masterpieces reflect society.



The "Sining ug Kasingkasing" exhibit, running until February 24, offered attendees a glimpse into the vibrant world of Northern Mindanao's art scene.


The exhibit left an indelible mark on those who attended, proving the power of art to bring people together and celebrate local talent. It served as a testament to the strength, creativity, and resilience of Northern Mindanao's artists.
