The National Irrigation Administration - Regional Office X (NIA-X) confers with Central Mindanao University (CMU) and University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) colleges for a potential collaboration on advanced water management and climate resilient research program.
Funded through the Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (DOST-PCAARRD), "Agri-Nexus Twin" is a physics-informed digital twin that eyes to address the challenges in the Pulangi River Irrigation System and other irrigation systems with the integration of modern hydraulic engineering and Artificial Intelligence.
Meet the Visionaries
Nathalie Joy G. Casildo, CISC research coordinator, emphasized that the initiative aligns with NIA-X’s commitment to digitizing irrigation infrastructure and optimizing water distribution to the farmers.
NIA-X Acting Regional Manager Engr. Benitez K. Derogongan thanked the academe for their essential collaboration in the region's irrigation systems breakthrough. He also referred the researchers to Bukidnon Irrigation Management Office for further discussion and for the implementation of the said project. Joining Professor Casildo were associate professors Kent Levi A. Bonifacio and Jinky G. Marcelo; Instructor Ferdinand B. Bascones; and Professor May Marie P. Talandron-Felipe, Ph.D.
