The agreement to host this significant event was formalized through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed on August 9 between the Provincial Government and the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP). The tournament, sanctioned by the ASEAN Chess Confederation (ACC), is scheduled to occur from **November 2 to 10, 2025**. The MOA was signed by NCFP President and Chairman Prospero A. Pichay Jr. and Misamis Occidental Governor Henry S. Oaminal, in the presence of notable witnesses, including NCFP Chief Executive Officer Jayson Gonzales and various chess experts. Governor Oaminal expressed his enthusiasm for the tournament, emphasizing that it aligns perfectly with the province's goals in sports development and international engagement.
