Rufus Rodriguez for P100 million to fund the feasibility study of the Mindanao Railway System (Phase 3) - Northern Mindanao Railway (Villanueva-Cagayan de Oro-Laguindingan Airport) Project. This was a monumental move, setting the stage for more ambitious transport initiatives in the region.
Fast forward to July 2022, DOTR Sec. Jimmy Bautista gave the green light to Cong. Rufus’ request for a P60M fund to kickstart the Elevated Skyway/Mass Transit system for CdeO. Talk about forward-thinking!
Deloitte Corp has been tasked to prepare the Feasibility Study, and they’re on track to complete it by July 30 this year. The study is pivotal; it will determine the alignment of railways, including the Light Rail/Elevated Railway from Bugo to Iponan and from Paseo Rotonda to Macalaban Port, passing through A. Velez St. to Pacana St., to Puntod, and then Macabalan.
