Hey folks! Ever wondered what it feels like to finally have a place you can truly call home? Well, 50 families in Barangay Buot, Wao, Lanao del Sur now know the answer. Thanks to the KAPYANAN project, these families have transitioned from uncertainty to the comfort and security of their new homes. The KAPYANAN project, a flagship initiative by the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) government, aims to provide housing for the most vulnerable sectors of society. Talk about making dreams come true!
On June 6, these newly constructed houses were handed over to the lucky beneficiaries, and the atmosphere was nothing short of jubilant. Take Asalan Ampatua, for instance. This 45-year-old skilled worker and father of four couldn’t contain his joy. “We have a house, but it’s made up of light materials that have been dilapidated over the years,” he shared. The new home offers tremendous security and comfort for his family, especially since Asalan can no longer perform strenuous tasks due to health concerns. What a game-changer!
Now, let’s talk about how this beautiful community came to be. Providing affordable housing is no easy feat, particularly when it comes to land availability. But guess what? A former government official and resident, Lominog Polayagan, stepped up to the plate with a generous solution. He donated a 1.5-hectare portion of his land to create this new community. What a hero!
Lominog retired from service in 2018 but never retired from dreaming big. His vision goes beyond just housing; he aims to foster a thriving community built on love, respect, and Islamic values. “I have a vision to make this village a thriving community, which has always been my dream,” he said. And with this act of kindness, he’s well on his way to making that dream a reality.
The project’s implementation was overseen by the Ministry of Public Works (MPW) First District Engineering Office in Lanao del Sur. District Engineer Abolcair Langilao expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the BARMM government for entrusting his office with this vital project. He emphasized the importance of such initiatives and highlighted his team’s commitment to delivering quality results.
“We have a lot of projects, both regular and special projects, being implemented, and we’re glad that we were able to implement them well,” Langilao said. It’s clear that when everyone works together, amazing things can happen. And this project is a shining example of that.
KAPYANAN Project Manager Engr. Mohammad Abdullah also had some crucial advice for the new homeowners. He emphasized the importance of responsible ownership and reminded the recipients to take care of their new core shelters. The team will continue to monitor the units to ensure proper use and compliance with the agreements between the beneficiaries and KAPYANAN.
The project initially received funding from the former Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao and continued under the BARMM, established by the Bangsamoro Organic Law (RA 11054), ratified in 2019. So, while the journey to get here was long, it’s heartening to see that the vision for a better future is being realized, one home at a time.
So there you have it, folks! The KAPYANAN project is not just about bricks and mortar; it’s about building a better future for the most vulnerable sectors of our society. With the hard work and generosity of so many people, 50 families in Lanao del Sur now have a secure place to call home. This is not just a win for these families but a victory for the entire community. A brighter future is on the horizon, and it’s all thanks to initiatives like this.
In the end, it’s all about making a difference. And the KAPYANAN project is doing just that, one house at a time. Cheers to new beginnings and brighter tomorrows!
