In the wake of increasing health demands, the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) steps up its game in Northern Mindanao (NorMin). The organization has notably upgraded its health packages, adding more health centers to its list.
PhilHealth Region 10 focal person, Pamela Jay Orias, shared an uplifting update. This year, the corporation has not just expanded but also updated the packages for stroke treatment and dialysis.
PhilHealth's coverage for stroke has experienced a remarkable increase, leaping from PHP28,000 to an impressive PHP76,000. This substantial rise reflects the corporation's commitment to providing comprehensive health care to its members.
The helping hand extended by PhilHealth-10 doesn't stop at stroke coverage. The number of free dialysis sessions has also been amplified from 144 to 156 sessions, providing added support to patients who require regular treatment.
The health insurance body has also raised the bar for other health packages. The hemorrhagic stroke package has been boosted to PHP81,000, and the pneumonia high-risk package has been increased from PHP32,000 to PHP90,100.
Orias further shared that the outpatient benefit package covers PHP9,000 for general mental health and PHP16,000 for specialty cases. This inclusion underscores the organization's holistic approach to health care.
In Northern Mindanao, the PhilHealth Konsultasyong Sulit at Tama (Konsulta) Program has seen considerable growth. The number of accredited providers under this program is expected to reach 115 by the end of 2023.
The Konsulta program is not just about the number of providers; it's also about the increasing number of members. With an impressive registration of 1.9 million members, the program is certainly on an upward trajectory.
PhilHealth-10 vice president, Delio Aseron II, assures that these packages are guaranteed under the Universal Health Care Law. The corporation's actions are clearly in line with the provisions of this law.
Aseron further stated that the corporation began rolling out new benefits in 2023 and continues to work on improving its programs in tune with the times. This forward-looking approach is a testament to PhilHealth's commitment to evolving healthcare needs.
